Personal Electronic Device Plan – Classroom Organizers

Personal Electronic Device Plan – Classroom Organizers

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Re: Personal Electronic Device Plan – Classroom Organizers

We are writing to update you on Sauk Rapids-Rice High School’s personal electronic device plan. In collaboration with district administration and staff, we continue to refine this plan to best support student learning, focus, and engagement.

The presence of personal electronic devices in classrooms can interfere with concentration and disrupt the learning environment. To promote active participation and meaningful interaction, SRRHS implemented a personal electronic device-free plan beginning in the 2023–2024 school year. Devices may only be used during lunch and passing times.

New for 2025–2026: To strengthen this plan, students will now be expected to place their personal electronic devices in a classroom pocket organizer at the start of each class period. Devices will remain there until class is dismissed.

This practice helps protect student privacy and safety while supporting academic success, social well-being, and stronger classroom relationships. It also creates a more focused and productive learning environment for all.

We ask that you review this plan with your student before the school year begins. While some school districts in Minnesota have chosen to ban devices entirely during the school day, Sauk Rapids-Rice High School has adopted this balanced approach to preserve opportunities for safe, responsible device use while ensuring classrooms remain distraction-free.

Thank you for your continued support in protecting the learning environment for all students.

Sincerely,

Sandy Logrono, Principal

Adam Johnson, Assistant Principal (last names A- Li)

Steve Wagner, Assistant Principal (last names Lo-Z)
