Tardy Kiosk and Attendance Messages (REPEAT)

Attendance at school is one of the greatest predictors of success for students. The key to regular school attendance is parent involvement and commitment. When parents value the educational experience and are committed to their children’s education, their children are more likely to attend school consistently and therefore are more likely to graduate.

In an effort to keep you informed about your student's daily attendance, we have implemented a new messaging system. You will receive a notification if your student is marked absent (unexcused) or late (unexcused) in any class period. An unexcused absence is one for which the school has not received a valid explanation from a parent or guardian.

You may receive multiple messages if your student is marked late or absent in more than one class. Messages absences in periods 1 and 2 will be sent at 10:00 am. This allows time for attendance to be recorded and processed. Messages for subsequent periods will be sent at the end of each class period. This timely notification helps keep you informed of any unexcused absences throughout the day.

Parents will get a text message alert if their student is late to a period. Text message alerts will begin going out throughout the day for each period a student is late.

The SRRHS Office has implemented a Tardy Kiosk for students to check in on when they are late to school.

• Students will simply check themselves in at the tardy kiosk, located in the main office, using their lunch number.
• Students will get a printed pass from the tardy kiosk that they will present to their teacher when they arrive to class.
• Parents will get a text message alert if their student is late to a period.

Having students use the kiosk will alleviate much of the morning congestion in the office. The kiosk will also help get students to class quickly and keep parents informed of their students attendance. As with any system changes, there may be a few bumps along the road. We appreciate your patience while we are in the implementation stage of the kiosk.

Attendance at school is essential to the educational success of students at Sauk Rapids-Rice District 47 schools. Daily attendance is required by the State of Minnesota for all school age students.
