Dear Sauk Rapids-Rice High School Students, Parents, and Guardians:

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to our students returning.  We want to extend a special greeting to all incoming ninth-graders and new students as they join our high school Storm family!  

Sauk Rapids-Rice High School is a respectful community committed to preparing students for college and careers. We foster our core values of engagement, respect, and responsibility, supporting every student in pursuing their passions and achieving their best.

Several new staff members are joining our Storm Family!  We welcome them to SRRHS and look forward to our families meeting them.  We are pleased to announce the following new staff:

Join us for the SRRHS Open House on Wednesday, August 26, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. to tour the school and meet our staff. It's a great opportunity to review schedules, get your school picture taken, find your locker, handle paperwork, pay fees, and get ready for the new school year.

Below are some highlights regarding the open house:

• Class schedules for all students will be available on Skyward on August 21 at 3:00 p.m. Notification will be by email and Schoology when schedules are live. Students with schedule concerns should complete the online Schedule Correction Request, which will be included in the email notification.
• Class schedules for 9th grade students will be available in the Commons area on the night of Open House. All other students can find their schedule in Skyward or Schoology. 
• Student photos for student IDs and the yearbook will be taken in the Auxiliary Gym from 12:00 -8:00 p.m. Students arriving before open house should enter through Door 6. All students, including seniors, must get a photo taken for their student ID. Photos are available for purchase.
• Juniors and Seniors registered for Youth Service are invited to attend the Youth Service Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the PAC.
• There will be a 9th grade orientation meeting in the PAC at 6:30 p.m.
• Parking permits can be purchased online through Skyward and picked up at the Main Office table in the commons. You will need your vehicle information (make, model, and license plate number) in order to pick up your parking permit. 
• The DECA Store will be open for students and families to purchase STORM apparel.

School starts Monday, August 31, for 9th graders and Link Leaders, followed by all students on Tuesday, September 1. For questions, please call the high school office at 320-253-4700.

Attendance

Sauk Rapids-Rice High School expects and supports exemplary attendance by all students. We understand there may be times when students can’t attend school, and we ask that parents/guardians email marie.eggert@isd47.org or call and leave a message (320-253-4700) before 8:15 a.m. to report any student absence.  

The following are examples of excused absences: student illness, illness or death of a family member, family emergency of special circumstances approved by the school administration, religious instruction, medical/dental/chemical health/psychological appointments (with documentation from your provider).

Please note these points of emphasis:

• An excused absence due to a medical appointment requires an appointment card from the facility visited. Please obtain one from your provider. 
• A student is allowed up to fifteen (15) excused absences during the school year. Once a student has  fifteen (15) absences during the school year, all future absences will be considered unexcused unless medical documentation, signed by a medical authority* (*Medical doctor, clinical psychologist, physician assistant or nurse practitioner who has seen or treated the student) for the full absence, is presented to the school. An excused absence indicates an absence from school with parent/guardian and school permission.
• If your child is facing an ongoing medical issue, please contact the High School office as soon as possible to address their unique needs in the school setting. We ask that all families update their medical documentation of their condition each year in Skyward Family Access. 

SRRHS utilizes a tardy kiosk for students who are tardy to school. Students will check themselves in at the tardy kiosk, located in the main office, using their lunch number. Students will get a printed pass from the tardy kiosk that they will present to their teacher when they arrive to class. Parents will get a text message alert if their student is tardy. Text message alerts will go out shortly after each period begins. 

For safety reasons, students who become ill at school must report to the Health Services Office. Health Services personnel will assess the situation and, if warranted, make the necessary arrangements (according to the emergency information) for a student to go home.  

Students who have obtained an authorized e-hallpass from the office to leave school during the school day must check out in the high school office to remain excused. In addition, students who return the same day are to sign in at the high school office.  

Back to School Forms

Please complete the Back to School forms in Skyward Family Access, to help ensure that we have the most up-to-date contact information and the current year's Device & Network Agreement completed. Items you will verify and complete within the Back to School Forms are: 

            1. Student Information (including parent contact information, address, and emergency contacts)

            2. Student Annual Health Information Verification

            3. Device & Network Agreement (this must be complete before students are issued a laptop)

            4. Educational Benefits Form (found within the Device & Network Agreement)      

            5. 21st Century Program Consent Form

Bell Schedule

Our daily bell schedule has changed to reflect seven periods with Storm Study/Connections (advisory) after Period 2.  Due to a change in transportation, the school day has been changed by 5 minutes. The school day is from 8:25 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.

  • September 3 Bell Schedule (Class Meetings) 
  • September 4 and 7 - No School 

Building Hours

High school office hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. On student contact days, Doors 1, 4, and 6 will be open for students to enter the building. Door 1 will open at 7:30 a.m., and Doors 4 and 6 will open at 7:45 a.m. Students will have access to breakfast until 8:15 a.m.  At the end of the day, doors are open until 3:40 p.m., and students are to exit the building for the bus, their arranged transportation, or scheduled high school activity. While school is in session, our high school is locked, and all students and visitors must access the high school through Door 1.

Busing - Transportation 

ISD 47 requires all families to opt-in for school bus transportation.  ISD 47 Transportation is continually working to create more efficient bus routes. Families who submit their transportation requests after August 5 may not be assigned a bus to start the school year. If there are changes to your transportation pick-up/drop-off locations from the previous year,  you will receive an email with your bus route number and pick-up/drop-off location in mid-August. Contact the Transportation Department at 320-258-1995, or visit the SRR Transportation Website if you have any questions. 

Class Schedules

Schedules will be available on Skyward starting August 21 at 3:00 p.m. Ninth graders can pick up printed copies of their schedule at Open House on August 26, or in the main office afterward. Any schedule correction requests will be made online only. Schedules will not be changed at Open House. A schedule correction form will be shared in the weekly newsletter on Friday, August 21. 

Communication

We will continue sharing important information with SRRHS students and families via email. Please check your email address to make sure it is accurate. You may verify your email address in Skyward Family Access and select “My Account” in the upper right-hand corner. Please continue to watch your email for important information from the high school. Our weekly newsletter will be sent to families on Friday. 

DECA Store

The DECA Store will be open during Open House on August 26, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Store hours during the school year may vary. Please contact the main office at 320-253-4700 for DECA Store hours before your visit. 

First Days of School

The first day of school is Monday, August 31, for 9th grade students and LINK Leaders only. All grades will attend school beginning Tuesday, September 1. 

On August 31, incoming 9th graders will have an orientation day led by our LINK Leaders. The purpose of this day is to welcome the Class of 2030 to the high school and acclimate them to the building.  Seniors and Juniors will serve as LINK leaders and mentors to our 9th grade students.  The day consists of large and small group activities and students attending an abbreviated class schedule. Students should wear comfortable clothing and should not bring all their school items until the following day, September 1.

Graduation - Class of 2027

Graduation will be held in the evening on May 26, 2027, at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center at SCSU. Additional graduation information will be shared throughout the year.  

Health Office

Health Office hours are 7:30 - 3:30 p.m. on student contact days. If your student requires a prescription or over-the-counter medication(s) during the school year, please contact the Health Office at 320-258-1729. Health Office staff will be available for assistance during open house.

Laptop Distribution - Device & Network Agreement - Protection Plan 

9th grade students will receive their laptops on August 31st, during Connections. 10th-12th grade students will receive their laptops on September 1st, during Connections. 

To receive a district device, the Device and Network Agreement must be completed and all outstanding technology fees must be paid. Please complete these steps in Skyward Family Access:

1. Parents/Guardians must log into Skyward Family Access. (If you need Skyward login assistance, contact the high school office at 320-253-4700).
2. Read and sign the Device and Network Agreement, located in Skyward Family Access under 26-27  Back to School Forms.
3. Pay any outstanding technology fees found in Skyward Family Access under Fee Management.
4. Purchase or waive the optional Protection Plan, located in Skyward Family Access under Fee Management. 
   • Protection plans must be paid by September 30, 2026, to be valid for this school year. Protection Plan coverage details are on the SRR District Website. 
   • Please note: If you plan to apply for Educational Benefits, please be sure to complete the Educational Benefits form by September 15. If you qualify for Educational Benefits, you may be eligible for a reduced Protection Plan fee. Reduced fees may not be reflected in Fee Management until after September 15, 2026.

Lockers - by request ONLY

Please complete the Locker Request Form if you would like a locker assigned to you for the 2026-2027 school year. We will not assign lockers to each student, you MUST complete the form below to be assigned a locker.  Lockers will be assigned to students prior to open house, if the form is completed by August 21. Locker requests made after August 21 may not be assigned until the first week of school. Locker information can be found in Skyward. 

Parking – Parking Permit

Students who drive to school must register their vehicle in the high school office and have a valid parking permit displayed at all times.  Forms and permits are available before the school day, during lunch, and at the Open House.  Student parking is on the south side of the high school (South lot).

Parking permits for students are $120.00 (non-refundable/non-transferable). This permit is a one-time purchase for the student’s high school career. Any student who loses a valid parking permit may buy a replacement permit for $10.00. The student parking permit fee can be paid online in Skyward Family Access by clicking on Fee Management. Since this is an optional fee, you will add it to your shopping cart for the specific student.  After paying the fee, students will provide the license number, make, and model to the main office to receive their parking permit.  Parking permits can be picked up during Open House or in the high school office, before school starts or during lunch.

Our parking security staff patrols the parking areas regularly.  Students who do not have a valid permit displayed or parked in non designated student lots may have wheel locks attached to their vehicles. The fee to have the wheel lock removed is $30.00. Further offenses will result in the loss of parking privileges. Tampering with wheel locks is prohibited and considered an SRR Code of Conduct violation.  Please have a valid permit and keep it posted in your back window, on the passenger side, at all times.

Parking Lots - Drop off/Pick up - Traffic Patterns

Student and staff safety is our priority in parking lots. Please follow posted signs and practice safe driving skills at all times. 

The morning student drop-off and afternoon student pick-up areas are at Door 1. Buses will park and depart from the North side of the building in the morning and the afternoon. 

Please note: Student pick-up/drop-off is only allowed at Door 1 due to traffic flow.  Door 6 and 7 driving lanes and the north end of the building are restricted to staff, school vehicles, and buses only.

Personal Electronic Device-Free Plan 

To comply with Policy 524 (Internet, Technology, and Cell Phone Acceptable Use and Safety Policy) and to minimize learning distractions and prioritize student privacy and safety, Sauk Rapids-Rice High School has implemented the following expectations regarding personal electronic device usage during the school day:

Personal electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, etc.) are prohibited during the school day (8:25 a.m.–3:25 p.m.), except during lunch and passing times. For urgent family communication, please call the high school office; messages will be relayed to students.

All students are to place their personal electronic devices in a classroom pocket organizer at the start of each class period. Devices will remain there until class is dismissed. Failure to place personal electronics in the pocket organizer at the start of the class period may result in a technology misuse behavior referral.

Consequences for violating this policy are as follows: 

1st offense: Device is confiscated and brought to the office for the student to pick up at the end of the school day following a conversation with an administrator.

2nd offense: Device is taken to the office and communication is made with the student to notify parent/guardian of their second personal electronics offense. The parent/guardian will pick up the device.

3rd offense: Device is taken to the office, parent/guardian must pick it up. Going forward the device must be checked into the office at the start of each school day.

Progressive disciplinary action will be taken for each violation following the 3rd offense. 

Any student refusing to turn over a device or becoming disrespectful/defiant with a staff member requesting a device to be turned over will result in further disciplinary action including but not limited to removal from class.

Reading Your Schedule

In all student schedules, there is a “Period 8.” This time signifies an advisory period called “Connections.”

Seniors - Student ID and Yearbook Portrait (Deadline is mid December)

Senior students must have their picture taken at Open House for their student ID. Seniors may use the portrait taken by The Camera Shop in the yearbook or submit their senior portraits. The yearbook staff will use The Camera Shops’ photo for seniors who do not submit a photo. Senior portraits submitted for the yearbook should be head and shoulders or from the waist up. No props or hats are allowed in the yearbook portrait.  The Class of 2027 and their families will receive a separate email with specific senior portrait information.

Student Insurance

Students and families interested in purchasing student insurance through the high school can find the information on the District website under Health Services. This insurance is optional.

Student Pictures - Required for all students

The Camera Shop will be taking photos of high school students during Open House. All students need their picture taken to receive a student ID for the school year. Student ID cards are required for identification and used for breakfast, lunch, the high school media center, and school events and activities. Student pictures will appear in our school yearbook for grades 9-11. School appropriate clothing is required. No hats, props, or non-prescription eyeglasses (sunglasses) will be allowed for school pictures.
 

• Student pictures will be in the Auxiliary Gym on August 26 from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m.
• Students will enter the gym from the Door 6 hallway and exit through the hallway by Door 7.
• Picture retakes will be on September 30 in the Community Room, during periods 1 through 3, for those students who do not attend Open House or those who want retakes. 

Photos can be purchased directly through The Camera Shop. You can preview, personalize, and pay using their online site Picture Day Pro. An order form is not required to have your photo taken. Photo proofs are emailed directly to families, and orders are shipped directly to you. Orders are available a few days after picture day and remain available for several months before being deleted.
